Similarly to paper bags, corrugated boxes also have three dimensions – width, length and depth (height). Either we are talking about corrugated boxes or other packages, it is important to have same measuring standards. Otherwise you may end up with an unpleasant surprise of receiving a completely different packages than what you had in mind.
Length – The longest side of box which connects to the flap
Width – Second longest side of the box (sometimes connects to the flap)
Depth/Height – The shortest side of a box (not necessarily) which does not connect to the flap
When picking the measurements and shape of a box, defining matter is the product it is for. To calculate the capacity of a box you need to multiply all three measurements. You can also use this calculator to get exact capacity.
The dimensions of a corrugated box almost always mean the internal dimensions. As different corrugated boxes have different weight and stacking resistance, it is important to maintain the internal dimensions. This helps to keep the box capacity same and your product will still fit the box. Using external dimensions it is possible that your product will not fit the box later.
There are endless combinations of different cardboards to create corrugated boxes with different thickness. Two main categories are single, double and triple walled corrugated boxes. Although the combinations are endless, we have brought out the most used flute combinations.
AC-flute – combination of two most resistant flutes. As a result the box will have additional reinforcement. AC-flute is the best option to protect your products during transportation. Thanks to the A-flute good support this combination is excellent for stacking as well.
BC-flute – combination is suitable for any area. This combinations offers high quality resistance and support during transportation and is mostly used as a a delivery box.
EB-flute – offers superior protection and additional reinforcement during the product delivery while E-flute is a perfect surface for high quality print.
